You can quickly learn Krav Maga

Our system is also very suitable for enthusiasts without background in martial arts. Krav Maga is specifically developed for beginners without experience with martial arts. Krav Maga was originally developed for the Israeli army. In Israel everyone, man or woman, has conscription. This meant that they needed a self-defense system that could be taught in a short time to a diverse target group, with different physical and mental talents and / or shortcomings.

At Krav Maga, anything goes..

Traditional martial arts are often focused on 1 against 1 situations. These sports are efficient in that area, think of MMA, kickboxing, judo, wrestling, etc.  These martial arts work with restrictive rules; a boxer may only use his fists, a judoka may not hit or kick at all and a kick boxer may not fight on the ground. At Krav Maga everything is possible! We train on the most diverse scenarios; you can be attacked by armed attackers, multiple assailants, on the ground, from behind etc. Traditional martial arts and Krav Maga can be practiced side by side.

This is how Krav Maga works

For Imi ( the founder of Krav Maga), the main reason for developing Krav Maga was that everyone, man or woman, young or old, was able to defend when necessary. His motto was: ‘So that one may walk in peace‘.

The techniques are based on and (further) developed, from this principle. This means, for example, that you are not ‘restricted’ by rules in self-defense. This is immediately the biggest difference between a (fighting) sport and a self-defense system. When you train on rules, you train on disability. Krav Maga has been developed for on the street. There is no referee who intervenes and there are no rules that say ‘that is not allowed, that is dangerous’. The only rules that we are bound to, of course, are the rules of the law.

Only effectiveness counts

Krav Maga is therefore not a ‘beautiful’ system. We do not know graceful movements, no separate styles, no unnecessary movements. It is a no-nonsense system where only effectiveness counts. The techniques build on natural reactions and reflexes. This means that you can become good at it in (relatively) short time. It is a very complete system and we teach you techniques for (verbal and physical) de-escalation (increasing in intensity, depending on the level of aggression with which you are confronted) and for when it is necessary, against knives, sticks, firearms and multiple attackers. Because Krav Maga is a young system (most martial arts date from a very long time ago), the techniques teach you to deal with aggression (source: IKMF Nederland).
