The Krav Maga Den Haag team

Our instructors are IKMF certified. To maintain this high level they train on a regular basis and follow, several times a year, special in-service training for instructors, organized by the Global Instructor Team (GIT) of the IKMF. This team examines both our instructors as our students on different occasions a year. Thus ensuring the level of quality and content of training at Krav Maga Den Haag.

I started training Krav Maga in 2001. Soon I felt that this was my sport and was strongly motivated to further develop my Krav Maga skills. Through IKMF Nederland I graduated as ‘graduate 5’ and successfully passed the exams of ‘Civil Krav Maga instructor’. Since 2007 I work as a Krav Maga instructor, currently at Krav Maga Den Haag and Krav Maga Lansingerland.

I remember that a number of violent incidents in the media made me think: what would I do in such situations? What can you do, and most importantly, what should you not do? Therefore in 2013, I started training Krav Maga., a self-defense system known for its effectiveness and simplicity. After several years of intensive training and on the recommendation of my instructor Bart van de Wiel, I followed, and successfully completed, the IKMF ‘Civil Krav Maga Instructor’-course in 2016. Since then I’ve worked as an instructor at Krav Maga Den Haag.

As a youngster I was already very interested in martial arts. So I started with judo, followed by Taekwondo and after that a long period Jiu-Jitsu reaching the black belt level. One day, more or less by accident, I walked into the ‘Silent Dragon’, a Krav Maga school in Delft, which name later changed in ‘Rayo sports’. In the beginning I was quite skeptical, because the philosophy of the Krav Maga system fundamentally differs from that of the traditional Asian martial arts that I had practiced until then. After a month of training I concluded that Krav Maga offered the best solution when it comes to realistic and executable self-defense. So in 2009 I started training Krav Maga seriously via IKMF. Presently I am a certified civil instructor, kids instructor and security instructor (different specializations within the IKMF). The passion and joy I experience with Krav Maga motivated me to start Krav Maga Den Haag and develop my FunFightFit-training for children. Besides Krav Maga I also successfully completed the Movisie- and ‘teacher self-defense’-training. And my love for teaching children motivated me to also do the psychophysical training ‘Rots and Water’ and the IKMF Krav Maga kids-instructor course. Today I enjoy giving training and lessons via Krav Maga Den Haag, in The Hague, Rijswijk en Wateringen, including special training for the elderly, security guards, private lessons and corporate training. All this in combination with my part time teaching job at a high school.

At an introduction seminar of Krav Maga Den Haag in 2012, I fell in love with Krav Maga. The enthusiasm I felt then never left me. So I started training passionately and graduated for P4. Since 2 years I am assistant-instructor at the FunFightFit-lessons. In addition to my own training I find it great to help children develop their resilience and confidence with Krav Maga. And ofcourse that they have fun while doing serious training.

Growing up in an insecure and unpredictable home situation made me grow up with a great lack of confidence and all kinds of anxieties. It also made me deep aware of how important resilience is, especially for children and women. After being harassed I started looking for a course in self-defense. In March 2015 I accidently came across Krav Maga Den Haag and signed in for a trial lesson. Here I learned to move away from the events in my past and to develop self-confidence. Presently I have successfully passed the P3 exam. When Bart asked me to assist him in the FunFightFit-lessons I immediately said yes. Besides the huge pleasure I find in working with children, I want to make a meaningful contribution to the development of their resilience and self-confidence. I wish to further develop my knowhow and skills in these areas next to following my own training at Krav Maga Den Haag. >
